About
Anthony Ariza is a neuroscientist and biomedical science educator with an international academic background shaped by education, research, and professional training across Canada, Japan, Peru, and other institutions. His work sits at the intersection of molecular neuroscience, translational research, and higher education, with a focus on understanding how cellular signalling and synaptic mechanisms contribute to memory impairment and neurological dysfunction.
His research has explored topics including receptor trafficking, neuroinflammation, neurochemistry, and the molecular effects of anesthetics on cognitive function. Through this work, he aims to bridge fundamental neuroscience with clinically relevant questions related to brain health and neurocognitive disorders.
Alongside research, Anthony is actively involved in biomedical education and curriculum development. His teaching emphasizes scientific inquiry, active learning, and the integration of emerging educational technologies, including virtual reality (VR), to help students connect molecular concepts with real-world biomedical and clinical applications. He has developed and taught courses in human biology, anatomy and physiology, molecular biology, and experimental design, with a strong focus on laboratory training and critical thinking.
Having studied and worked across academic environments in Asia and North America, Anthony values interdisciplinary collaboration, cultural exchange, and science communication. Outside academia, he enjoys exploring coffee culture, cinema, cycling, and international cuisines—interests that continue to shape both his scientific and educational perspective.
